60 Before 60
As I approached my 59th birthday, which was July 2, I started to think about this past decade and honestly can’t believe how fast it has gone. It seems like yesterday I was going through all of the mental gymnastics in my mind about turning 50. But I embraced it, AARP card and all. Those people are unreal. I think it showed up the day before I turned 50. I have one question; how did they know? I wanted to send it back to them and let them know that they had not found me because my card said, Mr. Dale Thomas. Just one more funny thing about this man’s name that has been mine now for 59 years.
So, as I am looking back and looking forward I wanted to embark on a new journey this year of 59 and push myself to do 60 things before I turn 60. I wanted to do things that would challenge me, push me out of my comfort zone, make me laugh, make me proud, make me cry from serving others and so much more. So, I decided that was exactly what I was going to do and I was going to invite you on this journey with me. Regardless of where you are on the decade scale you can also start to embrace these stepping stones, not MILE stones. I have shared the idea with several people who are also going to do the same thing. I am being encouraged by others and also being offered suggestions of things to add to my list. In fact, I am on a new health and fitness journey and one of the 20 somethings that I work out with is a sky diver and is pushing me to sky drive before 60, but NO, that is not on my list!! I do plan to get in a race car this year and not just as a passenger with my son. I am planning to get behind the wheel on a mother – son trip! I actually told Nick last week so we can start planning that trip.
I have launched this adventure and I have already checked a few things off the list. I invite all of you to launch some adventure of your own. I have just signed up to do a full year of fitness at Studio Novo here in Nashville which is the hardest workout I have ever done. I am pushing outside my comfort zone to be in the best shape of my life. Thanks to the "new supplements" that I love that reduces inflammation and helps manage carbs and sugars, and my new workout schedule, I am on my way. Thanks to Anna and all the great instructors at Studio Novo for being part of this adventure this year.
The other scary, big goals are to publish my fiction book that I have written, get back on water ski’s, sing karaoke in public, take Salsa lessons, and the list goes on.
Stay tuned with me here or follow me on all of my social media. Feel free to throw suggestions my way and share a few of your own!
