Welcome to Motivational Monday!

As we launch into the 2nd full week of January I want to challenge you and encourage you with today’s message.  It’s a message that I am putting to work in my life that has been inspired by football. Yes, football.

I know if you have been on my Motivational Monday for any length of time you know that I am an avid football fan. Right now we are in the middle of the NFL playoff’s and I wanted to share with you something that I saw over the past few days that really spoke to me about life.

As a graduate of Mississippi State I am now a big Dallas Cowboy fan because of their quarterback, Dak Prescott, who played at Mississippi State. If you don’t know his story, he is now the starting quarterback for the Cowboys and has lead them to an incredible season and into the playoffs. However, he was not supposed to be the quarterback that was leading them this year. He was their 3rd string quarterback who got the chance to play because their other quarterbacks were injured.  He is a rookie. He is breaking records. He is doing what most thought he could not do. However, young Dak Prescott has taken his opportunity and turned it into a hero’s story.

In a short video that I have included in this email Dak talks about the 3 principles that have guided him in his 23 years. They are,  Fight, Finish and Faith. He has had to fight for every opportunity that he has been given, when given the opportunity he has worked hard to finish the opportunity that he was given and he has had to walk in faith. These are principles taught to him by his mother who passed away from cancer before she ever got to see him live this big dream that he had as a child, to play for the Dallas Cowboys. Now he has taken those principles with him to this opportunity with the cowboys. I encourage you to watch this short video of inspiration about his life.  Dak Prescott Video.

I have really thought about these 3 words and what they really mean over the past few days and I hope you will think about how they apply to your life.

First :  What do you really need to FIGHT for this year in 2017? What dreams do you have that you need to buckle down and refuse to give up on? What are you NOT willing to walk away from ?  When it gets really hard it's not easy to keep fighting but if the dream is truly anchored in your heart you will fight for it.

Second: What will you FINISH? What will it take for you to finish what you are fighting for? What habits are you willing to change? What are you willing to learn? What are you willing to do to make sure you FINISH the goals or dreams that are in your heart? They may be professional goals or personal goals but you have to be 100% sold out at finishing what you believe in.

Third; Have Faith . What is faith? Faith is believing in the unseen. It’s being willing to fight to the finish with the belief that if you keep moving forward you will achieve what you started. It’s focusing forward when life gets tough. It’s believing that if you refuse to give in that things can change. Faith and Fear require the same thing .. to believe in something we can not see. What will you do? Will you have faith or will you have fear? It is UP TO YOU !!

Even though I am a teacher in all of these life principles I am still learning everyday. Even though he will never know it, I want to say thank you to Dak Prescott for inspiring me in a bigger way to Fight, Finish and have Faith !!  Here's to an amazing 2017 !!

Make it a great week. Go Cowboys !!  :)
